Your Trusted Architects in Shreveport, LA
The AIA Shreveport Chapter was founded on April 18, 1925, by charter members including Seymour Van Os, Clarence W. King, and Edward F. Neild. Our organization has served northern Louisiana since 1933, covering 23 parishes from Vernon to Claiborne. As a volunteer-led 501(c)(6) non-profit incorporated in Caddo Parish, we promote architectural excellence through education, advocacy, and community engagement. Our objectives align with the American Institute of Architects' mission to advance architectural practice and improve the built environment. With over 95 years of service, we coordinate industry collaboration, support professional development, and advocate for historic preservation and modern design standards. Our chapter administers annual design awards, sponsors educational programs, and facilitates the Architectural Experience Program for emerging professionals. We maintain strong partnerships with local institutions like LSU Ochsner Health and the Louisiana Architecture Foundation. Our leadership in regional architectural discourse is demonstrated through initiatives like the Merit Badge program for scouts and community design workshops. We actively engage in legislative advocacy to protect historic tax credits and modernize building codes. As an accredited component of AIA Louisiana, we uphold the highest professional standards in architectural practice and education.
