The firm was founded in 2004 by Ross Cann, who has over thirty years experience as a Registered Architect. He was elected as a full member of the American Institute of Architects in 1993 and holds honors degrees from Yale, Cambridge, Columbia Universities. He is also earned the title of Accredited Professional from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Institute. The firm was a pioneer in using Building Information Modeling to design building in three-dimensions so that clients can experience realistic walkthroughs of their projects before construction even begins. A4 Architecture has been selected by the readers of Newport Life Magazine as "The Best Architect in Newport County" three times, which is extraordinary, considering there are forty or so firms competing for this honor each year.

A4 ARCHITECTURE undertook a historic restoration and designed a garage for our Victorian home located in the Historic Point neighborhood of Newport. His extensive historical knowledge helped us get our Historic District approvals. His architectural expertise resulted in a beautiful and functional design while also providing all practical considerations for such a structure.
