Powell & Partners, Architects has been in business since 1992 and is a full service international architectural practice with an office in Oakland, and with work experience in California and Germany. We seek to provide thoughtful, responsive, and responsible architectural design services to improve the built environment and facilitate the activities of our clients and users.

We are particularly qualified at putting our skills and talent to work in producing essential and maintenance facilities, transportation facilities, commercial / office interiors, residential, educational, community and religious facilities that support and stimulate the production and growth of a community as well as produce an environment that promotes creativity, and is an exciting place to experience.

From programming through construction administration our highest priority is to provide services that help make cost effective decisions that promote the safety and effectiveness of the built environment. Whether involved in the design of new buildings or renovation of existing buildings, experience and knowledge of developing contract documents is required.

Powell & Partners were consulting architects on this project.
Our role included design of the senior housing and senior center, retail facilities, community facilities, the child care center, a parking facility, coordination and construction administration.
This is a nation wide model project of the Hope VI program.
High end residential home over 3 levels with green roofs over detached garage and carport, solar cells for warm water supply, rainwater collection cistern for gray-water usage (toilets, washing machine) and irrigation, blow-in roof insulation manufactured from recycled paper, automatic exterior blinds connected to a weather sensor, and a central ventilation system w/ heat recovery unit, renewing the entire air-volumn of all rooms every two hours, providing supply air in all livable spaces and return air in all areas where odors occur, like bathrooms and kitchen.
When completed, Laguna Honda Hospital is scheduled to provide 1,200 new SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility) beds and Clarendon Hall will be demolished to build 140 new assisted living units.
Powell & Partners' responsibility, as consultants to Anshen+Allen, included programming, as well as developing design and construction documents for the child care facility.
