SFIA research and publishing activities are expanding, especially in our support of the newly emerging "Green Building New Deal." These activities continue at our Alameda, California office: SFIA, Box 2590, Alameda, CA 94501. Registration for SFIA's online courses is now administered in the university town of Ruston, Louisiana. SFIA has the nation's first and most comprehensive Eco-Design programs including distance learning and continuing education.
SFIA is devoted to innovation and reform in architectural education, offering open classes and a Master of Architecture program to graduate students, architectural employees, practicing professionals, and those who have yet to start their architectural education. SFIA is the only 100% sustainably focused architecture school with the longest running and most comprehensive ecological design and green architecture programs in the world.
SFIA has been offering green building and ecological design degrees for twenty years as a wholly integrated part of its architecture degree programs.

To SFIA and Fred Stitt, an amazing program and advisor, whose support, guidance, and specialized degree program allowed me to explore new aspects of myself and sustainability.
This program allowed me to be so much more than just a student; it allowed me to find a new passion in my life and open new potential futures for myself.
I'm enjoying the text and gaining insights that I can put into use with each chapter.
You've done a really nice job of selecting relevant text, and I'm torn between wanting to dive in deeply with each and the need to keep moving forward.

Experiencing great architecture is like enjoying the finest of natural environments.
It rewards the senses.
It sparks imagination and emotions.
It inspires.
It enhances consciousness.
SFIA's mission is to provide that kind of experience in the process of architectural education.
Hundreds of architects, artists, and technologists are working on this level.
These are the ones we study and learn from at SFIA.
These architects work in ways that are called Organic, Evolutionary, Ecological, and even Extropian or Futurist.

A New Kind of Architecture Education

The real architects are the young ones, regardless of age, with continuing enthusiasm, imagination, industry, inventiveness, curiosity and dedication to architecture for all people as their reason for being.
By such examples we continue to renew faith in the creative spirit and its potentials.
SFIA offers new alternatives in design education while retaining the best features of exceptional traditional schools.
While following many well-proven traditions in education, SFIA is also testing new approaches to solve long-standing problems.

Since then, with our encouragement and participation, dozens of new green building conferences have been created and are offered annually in cities across the US and overseas.
