After completing formal studies in stained glass, Jeff Smith founded ASG as an artist's studio (rather than the more commonplace production studio). ASG's overriding goal is art that is dynamically responsive to each unique project and client. Across the US, ASG's critically acclaimed stained glass is known for innovative design, impeccable craftsmanship and affordability.

Designs begin with listening, site-visits, brainstorming, research and analysis. Once the comprehensive design process concludes, Smith remains involved with the making of every panel of stained glass. This hands-on approach ensures Smith's designs are faithfully transformed into stained glass without the loss-in-translation that would otherwise occur.

About ASG

I spiraled into my career circuitously via several campuses while studying science and biology, philosophy and religion, landscape architecture, fine arts and, finally, stained glass.
Here's an overview of that journey.
The most gratifying (and humbling) part of making art, is receiving praise from others.
The following unsolicited comments also add depth and perspective about the process of making stained glass with Jeff Smith and ASG.
Jeff Smith was part of the groundbreaking stained glass program at Louisiana State University and on two occasions studied with leading German stained glass artists.

When I transferred to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge to study Landscape Architecture, I had no idea a first semester color-theory course would immediately lead me into LSU's groundbreaking stained glass program.
Paul Dufour, my color-theory professor, happened to have recently established the first degree-conferring Stained Glass Program in the United States (BFA & MFA).

I toured Stephens Chapel this afternoon and was awestruck by the beauty of your creations.
The colors are so vibrant and rich and yet I can still see thru the glass as I had hoped.
I love the progression of colors as you move towards the altar and I love the color change as the eye ascends towards the great north window.
But I believe the greatest surprise is when you turn around and see the glass over the main door with the tree beyond.
So lovely, a masterwork.
Jeff Smith is an outstanding artist; he has a fabulous sense of color, design and proportion.
